NC Poultry Federation Announces 2024 Environmental Award Winners & Board of Directors

Greensboro, NC - The Grandover Resort & Conference Center was the venue for the North Carolina Poultry Federation's Annual Meeting on October 2-4. The 57th Annual Meeting of the Federation included the election of the 2024-25 Board of Directors, the Awards Banquet with a keynote address by Brian Earnest of CoBank as well as both a golf and sporting clays tournament.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2024 Environmental Awards. NCPF President Clay Lindley honored Russell and Sara McPherson of McPherson Farm in Chadbourn, NC, for their exceptional environmental stewardship in their hen turkey operation with Prestage Farms. The award recognizes innovative practices that benefit both industry and the environment. Second runner up was presented to Roger & Renita Garner of Cluckin "G" Farms of Seagrove, NC - a broiler operation contracting with Perdue Farms-Candor. First runner up was presented to Steven & Christine Maness of Black Willow Farms of Seagrove, NC - a broiler producer for Mountaire Farms.

In addition to recognizing growers for environmental excellence, the NC Poultry Federation also honored Robert Ford, NCPF Executive Director, for his twenty years of service to the North Carolina Poultry Federation. The Past President's Award was presented to Clay Lindley of Perdue Farms by incoming NCPF President Cowan Johnson of House of Raeford.

The NCPF third quarter business meeting was held on October 4, 2024, where the new Board of Directors was installed. 2024-25 Executive Board members are Cowan Johnson of House of Raeford, President; Tim Thomas of Butterball, 1st Vice President; Art Lankford of Butterball, 2nd Vice President; Matthew Wooten of Wayne Sanderson Farms, Secretary-Treasurer; and Clay Lindley of Perdue Farms, Immediate Past President.

Board Members for 2024-25 include: Chandler Adams representing the Carolina Feed Association, Andrew Boyles of Tyson Foods; Jacob Caviness representing the Breeder Hatchery Association, Zach Evans of Mountaire Farms, Tommy Furlough of Cal-Maine Foods, Jeff Hancock of Unicon, Inc., Todd Huneycutt of Huneycutt Brothers LP, Willie Jervis of Braswell Family Farms, Bob Johnson of House of Raeford, James Lee of Circle-S-Ranch, Terry Maness of Perdue Foods, Dr. Armando Mirande of Mountaire Farms, Jon Pope of Jonathan Pope Farms, Tommy Porter, Jr. of Porter Farms, Scott Prestage of Prestage Farms, Charles Rigdon of Case Farms, Alex Simpson of Simpson's Eggs, Scott Vanhoy or Perdue Farms, Mark Whitt of International Paper, and Richard Williams of Pilgrim's Pride.

Golf Tournament Champions were Bradley Billings and Corey Roberts and Runner-ups were Trent Reynolds and Kevin Taylor. Sporting Clays Tournament winners were Eli Purvis (1st), Austin Baker (2nd) and Jake Vuncannon (3rd).
