GREENSBORO, NC…The Grandover Resort & Conference Center was again venue for North Carolina Poultry Federation's Annual Meeting August 4-5. The 49th Annual Meeting of the Federation included the election of the 2016-17 Board of Directors, a conversation between Gov. Pat McCrory and Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler, award presentations to three outstanding growers, two DSA presentations, and a keynote address by Mike Ledford of Chick-fil-A’s corporate office in Atlanta.

2015-16 NCPF president Ronnie Parker and Commissioner Troxler presented the 2016 Grower Environmental Award to Jammie and Kim Piercy of C&C Quick Turn Farm in Clinton, a grower for Prestage Farms. Finalists were Donald Grady of the Grady Farm in Albertson, a grower for Sanderson Farms, and Richard Kern of Triple Oak Farm in Rockingham, a grower for Perdue Farms.

Two Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Dr. Sarah Mason of NCDA&CS and Dr. Mike Williams of the NCSU Prestage Dept. of Poultry Science. Both Mason and Williams have played an active role in the education of this industry.

The 2016-17 Executive Board is made up of Jeff Stalls of Perdue Farms, President; Neal Walsh of Butterball, 1st Vice President; Charles Rigdon of Case Farms, 2nd Vice President; Andrew Boyles of Tyson Foods, Secretary/Treasurer; and Ronnie Parker of Circle-S-Ranch, Past President.

Board Members for 2016-17 are Chandler Adams representing the Carolina Feed Industry Association, David Anderson of Anderson Consulting, Jeff Beavers of Mountaire Farms, John Brinn of Rose Acre Farms, Kendall Casey of Perdue Farms, James Clontz of Tyson Foods, Tommy Furlough of Cal-Maine Foods, Jeff Hancock of Unicon, Pat Haynes of Allen Harim Farms, Todd Huneycutt of Huneycutt Brothers Farm, Dr. Alice Johnson of Butterball, Bob Johnson of House of Raeford, Cowan Johnson of House of Raeford, Terry Maness of Perdue Farms, Sean McKeon of Mountaire Farms, Paul Nordin of Wayne Farms, Connie Ozment of Valley Proteins, Tommy Porter Jr. of Porter Farms, Scott Prestage of Prestage Farms, Tommy Robertson of Sanderson Farms, Alex Simpson of Simpson’s Eggs, Joe Steed representing the Breeder Hatchery Association, Mark Whitt of International Paper, and Richard Williams of Pilgrims.

Shane's Sporting Clays was host to the 43 competitive shooters, and the annual golf tournament was held on the Grandover’s West Course. 140 golfers played two-person modified super ball.

Since 1968 the North Carolina Poultry Federation, a trade association, has represented the poultry industry in North Carolina. Serving producers and processors of chicken, turkey, and egg products, the Federation provides a united voice for the industry with government, media, and the general public. Headquarters are located in Raleigh, NC.
